The Austin FX4 is a British mid-range passenger car, produced initially by the British Motor Corporation and later by British Leyland and Carbodies LTI. The car was first presented to the public in 1958. Its production started the same year and lasted until 1997! The length of the vehicle was 4.57 meters with a wheelbase of 2.81 meters. Austin FX4 was developed and put into production to replace the FX3 model. Compared to its predecessor, it kept similar dimensions, but had a slightly changed design and was generally more technologically modern. The suspension and the braking system were also changed. The Austin FX4, like its predecessor, was designed from the start as a taxi for a London taxi corporation. It is estimated that about 75,000 cars of this type were manufactured in total. As London Taxi it has been replaced by LTI TX1.
